Following requests received from users, I have implemented two Home Accountz capabilities that were missing from MyNetWorth, iNetWorth and MyNetWorth for Windows.
The first is to add the capability to limit the number of times that a Scheduled Transaction is executed automatically by setting an optional Repeats variable. If the Repeats variable is left unset, i.e. with a value of nil/null, the number of executions is unlimited. If the Scheduled Transaction’s Period is set to Once Only, the Repeats value is set to 1; otherwise the user can select the number of Repeats desired. The Repeats value set can be seen in the Schedule View next to the Period value. In iNeWorth and MyNetWorth for Windows the Repeats value is displayed in a separate column to the left of the Period column; in MyNetWorth (for Mac) the Repeats value is displayed within the Period column just to the left of the Period value. An unlimited Repeats value is displayed as a ∞ symbol. If a Scheduled Transaction’s Repeats is set, its value is decremented each time that the Scheduled Transaction is processed, i.e. entered into the record of routine Transactions. Once the Repeats value falls below 1, the Scheduled Transaction is deleted.
The second added capability enables clearing Transfer Transactions separately in their From and To Accounts. Normal (but not split) transactions between ASSETS/LIABILITIES accounts, rather than between ASSETS/LIABILITIES accounts and INCOME/EXPENSES accounts, are treated specially to cater for the delays that sometimes occur in funds leaving one account, e.g a bank account, and arriving in the other account, e.g. a credit card account; this new capability allows each account to be reconciled separately. When a Transfer Transaction is added or duplicated, a pair of “sibling” transactions are created automatically and these pass through a special Transfer Account as separate transactions. Once both “sibling” transactions have been cleared (i.e. in both the From and To accounts), they are removed from the Transfer Account and they revert to a routine single Transfer Transaction between its intended From and To accounts. Any changes (apart from the Cleared setting), made whilst editing a fully or partially unreconciled transfer transaction, are automatically applied to its “sibling” transfer transaction. Duplicating an unreconciled transfer transaction creates a brand new transfer transaction pair. Deleting an unreconciled transfer transaction deletes its sibling transfer transaction automatically. If the user has entered the wrong From or To account in the original Transfer Transaction, this error is easily corrected by selecting the “sibling” transaction that contains the error in the Accounts View and using the Move function to move the transaction to the correct account.
These added capabilities appear in MyNetWorth Version 3.4, iNetWorth Version 3.3 and MyNetWorth for Windows Version 3.2.95.
