Current Issues

Transactions Cannot be Added, Edited or Duplicated with Euro, Kroner or Zloty Selected in MyNetWorth for Windows

Version 3.6.99 of MyNetWorth for Windows introduced a bug which prevents users from adding, editing or duplicating transactions in the Accounts, Payees and Schedule Views due to the failure to display and edit non-integers in the Amount field, when the currency selected is Euro, Kroner or Złoty. I must apologise for my shorfalls in testing (while thanking Roger for reporting the issue so promptly). Version 3.7.100, which fixes this bug, was published on 30 June. Please update your copy of MyNetWorth for Windows as soon as possible, especially if you use Euro, Kroner or Złoty.

Double Reconciliation of Transfer Transactions

The recent implementation of the capability to reconcile the From and To Accounts for Transfer Transactions separately has been causing concern to some users. When a Transfer Transaction, i.e. one that moves funds from one asset/liability account to another asset/liability account rather than between an asset/liability account and an income/expense account, is entered by the user, two “sibling” transactions are created. These “sibling” transactions pass through a special Transfer Account, which is located in the ENABLERS category, with one “sibling” transaction appearing as a credit and the other as a debit. Having these two “sibling” transactions allows the user to clear them separately and covers the case where a time lapse occurs between the funds leaving one asset/liabilty account and arriving the other. A typical example of this is when a payment is made from a bank account to a credit card account. Once both the credit and debit “sibling” transactions have been cleared, they are deleted from the special Transfer Account and replaced by a “normal” single transaction between the original asset/liability accounts. This change was made in response to a user request; please see this post. I have made some improvements in the latest versions of MyNetWorth, iNetWorth and MyNetWorth for Windows, which should help to ease these concerns; please see this post.

Transactions File Name Occasionally Missing from iNetWorth and iNetWorth Preview Displays

In iNetWorth and iNetWorth Preview the name of the currently open Transactions File is normally displayed at the top of each main view screen. However, it occasionally disappears in when the hosting iOS device changes from Light to Dark mode and vice versa. This is not a bug in the app, but rather a limitation of how the iOS Light/Dark Mode feature works. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and appreciate your patience while I work to resolve this issue. In the meantime, closing and reopening the Tansactions File normally restores the correct display immediately. If it does not, try quitting iNetWorth/iNetWorth Preview and relaunching it. If that fails, restarting your device will work for sure.

Current Support Topics

Upgrading to the Full Version of iNetWorth

If you upgrade from iNetWorthPreview to iNetWorth, it is essential that you do not remove iNetWorthPreview from your iOS device before installing iNetWorth and copying any files that you created in iNetWorthPreview to the iNetWorth folder on your iOS device. If you do not do this, you will lose your iNetWorthPreview data (unless it is located on your iCloud drive). Please see this post for more details.

Opening iCloud Based Transactions Files in iNetWorth

iNetWorth is a document based app and it is therefore essential that transactions files that are stored in the iCloud are synchronised before you open them. Otherwise there is a risk that you will lose changes made to these files on other iOS or macOS devices. I strongly recommend, therefore, that all users of iNetWorth adopt the habit of tapping and holding any transactions file that they wish to open and selecting the Get Info option, whenever that transactions file is stored in the iCloud. This action will force the synchronisation of the selected file (as long as you have an internet connection) and will ensure that you are not missing any changes that have been made to the file. Please note that this is not a requirement for users who have access to the files on their iOS or macOS devices directly.
