Capability to Import Transactions from CSV File Implemented in iNetWorth 3.7

For a long time I resisted adding a facility to import transactions from online banking websites in MyNetWorth in the belief that, if you enter your purchases into MyNetWorth manually and reconcile your transactions regularly, you will spot suspicious withdrawals promptly and be able to protect yourself against losses. However, I was persuaded that those of you, who batch process your transactions and reconcile them infrequently, e.g. monthly, would benefit significantly from being able to import transactions from your bank and, as the import process does require you to review and edit each transaction to add missing information, which is not included in bank exports, the ability to spot suspicious withdrawals as you do this still remains. So, I added the capability to import transactions from online banking websites in MyNetworth and MyNetWorth for Windows.

I have started using iNetWorth more and more lately, particularly on my iPad 10. I find the capability to display iNetWorth alongside my online banking app (I bank with First Direct) super useful, especially when reconciling my accounts, although I still use iNetWorth on my iPhone SE3, when out and about, to capture purchases as I make them. I have therefore always attempted to keep the functions and capabilities of iNetWorth and MyNetWorth aligned.

I have replicated MyNetWorth’s capability to import transactions, which have been exported to a CSV file from an online banking website, into the account selected in the Accounts View, in iNetWorth version 3.7. However, I have only done this on the iPadOS version of iNetWorth for two reasons: to my mind iOS devices lack sufficient screen area to make importing transactions practical; and, in my experience, iOS online banking apps seldom, if ever, offer an export capability - only their web-based versions do that - and these web-based versions are best exploited on an iPad rather than on an iPhone. Furthermore, in view of its limited screen area, I have chosen not to replicate the new Import Transactions functionality on the iPad Mini.
