Networth Bundle

Although iNetWorth runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac devices, the Mac (Built for iPad) version is, to my mind, slightly less sophisticated than MyNetWorth. iNetWorth is written entirely in SwiftUI. MyNetWorth code uses both SwiftUI and AppKit, to expolit macOS capabilities to the full. For example, the tables displayed in MyNetWorth are NSTables, with columns that can be resized and reordered and the content of truncated cells can be revealed in full by hovering the mouse over them. Rapid and easy data entry from the keyboard is enabled by the use of NSComboBoxes. Toggling Cleared/Uncleared status is also easier in MyNetWorth. That said, iNetWorth is a thoroughly good personal accounts manager for anyone, especially if they lack access to a Mac desktop or laptop!

If you are a MyNetWorth user, who wants to exploit the benefits of macOS fully but also wants to have the capability to access and edit your financial data while on the move and away from your Mac desktop or laptop, until the release of the NetWorth Bundle you would have had to have bought both MyNetWorth and iNetWorth at full price. The concept behind the use of both apps together is to operate MyNetWorth as the “Master” app with iNetWorth acting as a mobile extension capability with changes to your datafiles synchronised automatically over iCloud.

As a document based app iNetWorth updates its data files whenever the user makes a new entry or edits an existing entry. MyNetWorth offers more control in that it holds changes in memory until the user saves or rejects those changes. If the user exits without saving, MyNetWorth issues a warning prompt. If you use both MyNetWorth and iNetWorth together, whenever you open MyNetWorth, the app checks to see if its current datafile has been changed by another device and offers the user the option to accept or reject the changes, just in case the user knows that he or she made an error in iNetWorth². The same process applies if a user, who has MyNetWorth on an iMac and a MacBook sharing a home network, for example, makes an change on his or her laptop and then runs MyNetWorth on his or her desktop. ¹However, the Mac Catalyst version of iNetWorth runs quite happily as a macOS app on Mac desktops and laptops. The Mac Catalyst version is available for both Apple Silicon and Intel based Mac desktops and laptops on the Mac App Store, although it will not run on macOS versions prior to macOS 15 (Sequoia).
